(2:1)
Now
Naomi had a kinsman
of her husband,
a man of great wealth,
of the family of Elimelech,
whose name was Boaz.
Questions about Ruth 2:1
Who was Naomi's husband?
What is a "kinsman"?
Look up and find information
on "The Kinsman Redeemer."
Did Naomi's kinsman have
wealth?
Would he be in a position
to acquire her as a wife?
Under the law, would he have
to marry her?
What relationship was he
to her?
What relationship was Ruth to Boaz?
(2:2)
And
Ruth
the Moabitess
said to Naomi,
"Please let me go
to the field and
glean among the ears of grain
after one in whose sight I may find favor."
And
she said to her,
"Go,
my daughter."
Questions about Ruth 2:2
Why bring up the fact that
Ruth was a Moabitess?
Why would Naomi let Ruth
go to Boaz's field instead of going herself?
Why was Ruth going to the
field?
Why would Ruth want to be in the favor of the owner of the field?
(2:3)
So
she
departed and
went and
gleaned in the field
after the reapers; and
she happened to come
to the portion of the field belonging to Boaz,
who was of the
family of Elimelech.
Questions about Ruth 1:2:3
What did Ruth do?
Why go to glean grain following
the reapers?
Did Ruth "happen" upon Boaz's field intentionally or unintentionally?
