"But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith."
1 Timothy 1:5
WORD OF GRACE

God cannot forgive me! I have been too bad! There is no way He will ever let me into heaven! Have you ever heard those phrases, or something like them? Probably most of us have. So many feel unworthy to be forgiven and to be eligible for heaven. Frankly, on our own merits, that is true. We do not deserve forgiveness or mercy.

But let’s consider the criminal on the cross. For decades he had sinned greatly. He had broken the law. Hanging there dying on a Roman cross was justice for a life poorly lived and filled with degradation and sin. The man hanging there on a cross between the thief and another criminal had committed no wrong. There was no legal reason for him to be dying a cruel death at the hands of the Roman authorities. Jesus was an innocent man… blameless. But He chose to die… for our sins, not His sins.

So, two men justly dying and one willingly dying not for what He had done but for what we have done… our sins. As the scene plays out on Golgotha, as described in Luke 23, one criminal cries out to Jesus for mercy while the other hurls insults at Him. Both were in the same situation, but one responded to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and asked Jesus to take him into His kingdom. He did not earn it and could do nothing but die. But Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

That man could not earn his way into heaven because it was too late. Neither can we, no matter how much time we have available. But based on what Jesus did on that cross 2000 years ago, we can enter heaven with our sins blotted out and no longer condemned. That is the wonder of grace. Nothing we can do can earn our place in heaven, but because of what Jesus did, our salvation is secured. That is because it is DONE!

Pastor Dave

Dear Parents,
Last week, your kids learned about Deborah and Barak. This week, Judges 6 starts out in a familiar way: “The Israelites did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.” The period of Judges was not a good time for the Israelites. Their cycle of sin, bondage, deliverance, and peace clearly showed the law alone could not save them from sin.

The Israelites were oppressed by the Midianites, and they cried out to God for help. God chose a man to save them, and his name was Gideon. Gideon was an unlikely leader, and he knew this. Gideon said, “Please, Lord, how can I deliver Israel? Look, my family is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the youngest in my father’s house” (Judg. 6:15).

God doesn’t need the biggest and the best to accomplish His plan. In fact, He often uses the weakest and least of people to fulfill His plans because that is what gives Him the most glory. God had a plan to empower Gideon in his weakness: “But I will be with you,” He said. (Judg. 6:16)

Gideon and an army of men assembled. God told Gideon he had too many men. God didn’t want the men to think they had the power to defeat the Midianites themselves. When the army was reduced to just 300 men, they prepared for battle. (See Judges 7:1-7.)

The men ran toward the Midianites’ camp, blowing their trumpets and shouting. God turned the swords of the Midianites against each other. They ran away, but Gideon and his army chased after them and killed them.

God was with the Israelites when they went to battle. The Israelites did not win the battle themselves; God fought for them. As you reflect on this story with your kids this week, point out that the Israelites cried out to God because they knew they could not save themselves. Even Gideon was not enough to save them; God used Gideon to help His people, but God fought the battle for them. The people needed someone who was mighty to save. Jesus Christ came to save us from sin because we cannot save ourselves. Only God, through Christ, can save us.

This week: "Samson" (Judges 13-16)

What is repentance? Repentance is turning away from sin and turning to Jesus.

Memory Verse: I John 1:9: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

THE COVID-19 VIRUS AND YOUR HEALTH

On Wednesday, March 4th, the Florida Department of Education sent student families some good information for students and families on being prepared for the COVID-19 virus. As of that date there had been 2 verified cases of the virus in Florida. “Currently, there is still a low risk in Florida, but Planning and preparing is always important.”

COVID-19 is spread similarly to the flu, mostly through contact from an infected individual and transmitted by coughing and sneezing. Common symptoms include fever, coughing, shortness of breath and lower and upper respiratory issues. It is more likely to occur in the elderly and those with underlying health conditions, and most individuals with the virus will have a mild case and will be able to be treated at home.

You should know that at King’s, touchable surfaces, door opener/closers, the wood backs and sides of pews, table and counter surfaces are being routinely disinfected during church service times and activities. There is also hand sanitizer available at the Welcome Center, and in the restrooms.

It is still flu season, and we encourage you to consider the following guidelines:
  • Keep Informed
  • Get a flu shot, and take flu antivirals if prescribed.
  • If you are sick, stay home.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Carry and use alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Call ahead before visiting your doctor.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Immediately dispose of the used tissue. Please don’t leave used tissues behind after use.
  • Monitor your symptoms.
Daily Florida Health updates are being posted on the DOH website.

Please see this helpful flier from the CDC related to handwashing and hand sanitizer.

Sunday 11:30 Room 302

Last Class Palm Sunday.
Ray Vander laan has a PHD in theology and a PHD in archaeological studies (the world in Jesus times and has studied in colleges in the Mideast) and teaches in the seminary of Hillsdale College in Michigan.

"In the dust of the Rabbi" is filmed at the original sites in the holy land showing the circumstances and living conditions of the people of the bible. To fully apply the message of the Bible, we must enter their world and familiarize ourselves with their culture which is unique to their times, it is about how Jewish rabbis are recruited and trained for ministry compared with How Jesus recruited and trained his disciples.

King's Baptist recently established a designated benevolence fund. This fund is primarily financed through special offerings of our church taken when we observe the Lord's Supper.

Our Children's Education Ministries

Preschool Classes
Open on Sundays from 8.45-12.30 continuously.
Each Hour has a unique teaching plan. There is also a "Mother's room" in our Worship Center Lobby for parents who desire to keep their babies with them.
Children Classes

Sunday School classes from 9.00-10.00 and 11.30-12.30
Two unique learning times.
10.15 Worship [Main Campus]
11:30 Worship [Pioneer Campus]
School age children learn much from worshiping with their parents. We welcome these boys and girls in our service. Of course there are some challenging times for parents as the teach their family how to do this. We can handle the wiggles, squiggles and extra trips that have to be made. This just goes with being family.

We encourage you to pick up our helpful guide for parents at our Welcome Desk in the Worship Center Lobby.

When children are invited to the Children's Feature, parents are welcome to accompany a child who may be hesitant but wants to "go down front."

Adults and Youth
On Sunday Mornings...

King's Encouragement Ministries

King's offers three important encouragement ministries for those in need.
The King's Comforters ministry brings the love of Christ to those who are physically unable to attend or fellowship with the body with visits, phone calls, and cards.
The King's Cupboard ministry provides food for families who are in need. The food is made possible by your donations of food and money. We also receive donations of some food items through the gracious gifts of Publix and Olive Garden.
The King's Clinics ministry provides some medical equipment and supplies on a loan basis. Access to this ministry is through Bob Scott

Pick up a King's Prayer List at the Welcome Center and see who's life you can brighten this week with a donation to this ministry, and a call, a card, or a visit to someone in need.

Oversight of the King's Encouragement Ministries is provided by Dan Marckel and Janet A. Sutherlin.
