OLD TESTAMENT PROPHETIC BOOKS
MALACHI: Introduction and Simple Outline
M A L AC H I (Gaebelein adapted)
("My Messenger")
Malachi prophesied after Haggai and Zechariah, about 435-415 BC (Whitcomb). For historical setting, see Ezra c. 458-440 BC and Nehemiah c. 445-415 BC (Whitcomb) By comparison of Malachi 1:8 with Nehemiah 5:15,18, it seems clear that he prophesied either during Nehemiah's absence in Persia (Neh. 13:6) or after Nehemiah's governship.
