NAME: Zechariah's name means "remembered of Jehovah."

DATE: Beganas Haggai--second year of Darius Hystaspes; dates 520-490 BC.

CONTEMPORARIES: The prophet Haggai and the historical book of Ezra.

THEME: Visions of providential movements and prophecies of near and far view activities of nations as they will affect Israel, both the restored remnant (but recently returned to the land) and Israel of the end-time. Israel's eventual victory over the nations through Messiah's return and reign.
