NOTE ON:  SECOND AND THIRD JOHN

 

SECOND JOHN THIRD JOHN
2 John has as its key: "Attitude toward false teachers." 3 John has as its key: "Attitude toward teachers of the truth."
2 John emphasizes -no fellowship with error 3 John emphasizes hospitality to truth.
2 John shows limits of scriptural fellowship. 3 John shows breadth of Christian fellowship.
2 John talks of "walking in truth. " 3 John talks of "walking in love. "
Both are personal letters to individuals.
Both are letters which were short only because the writer expected to see the addressees soon: 2 John 12; 3 John 14.
