Commandments and Instructions of Ephesians 5:1-21
1. (5:1) As a RESULT, BE IMITATORS of God
(as beloved children imitate God)
2. (5:2) YOU, WALK in love
(as Christ loved you,
as Christ gave Himself up for us
as a sweet smelling offering and sacrifice)
3. (5:3) DON'T LET BE NAMED among you:
(fornication, all uncleanness, greediness; not fitting for Saints)
(baseness, foolish talking, coarse joking; not becoming for Saints)
BUT RATHER: Thanksgiving
4. (5:6) LET NO MAN DECEIVE YOU with empty words
5. (5:7) THEREFORE, DO NOT BE PARTAKERS with them
(those who are disobedient)
6. (5:8) YOU, LIVE
(as children of Light)
7. (5:10) YOU, PROVE
(those things that are pleasing to the Lord)
8. (5:11) YOU, DO NOT HAVE FELLOWSHIP
(with unfruitful works of darkness)
BUT,
9. (5:11) YOU, REPROVE them
(find fault with, and voice disapproval of)
10. (5:15) YOU, WALK CAREFULLY
(not as unwise, but as wise)
(buying back the time, because the days are evil)
11. (5:17) THEREFORE, DO NOT BE FOOLISH
BUT,
12. (5:17) YOU, UNDERSTAND
(what the Will of the Lord is)
13. (5:18) BE YOU NOT DRUNK with wine
BUT
14. (5:18) BE YOU FILLED (crammed full) with The Spirit
AND
15. (5:19) BE SPEAKING TO EACH OTHER
(in Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs)
16. (5:19) BE SINGING AND MAKE MUSIC
(in your heart, to The Lord)
17. (5:20) ALWAYS GIVING THANKS (to God the Father for EVERYTHING
in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ)
