THE BOOK OF ROMANS
INTRODUCTION AND OUTLINES
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ"

J. Deering, AncientPath.net

"The fact that I have ventured to undertake the risk of interpreting this epistle of Paul, in particular will, I see, expose my design to widespread criticism. Since so many scholars of pre-eminent learning will have previously devoted their efforts to explaining this epistle, it seems unlikely that there is any room left for others to produce something better. I confess that ... as first seems I was held back ... I was afraid that I might incur the reputation of presumption, where I to turn my hand to this task after so many outstanding workmen. There are many ancient commentaries which deal with this epistle, and so many by more modern authors."

John Calvin, 1540
