CHRISTOLOGY (The Doctrine of Christ)
INTRODUCTION

The significance of His name: His complete name is Lord Jesus Christ

A. The name Lord is His divine name--the name that declare His deity.

B. Jesus is His human name. He has always been "Lord" (Heb. 1:10), but Jesus (Mt. 1:21; 2:1) only since His incarnation. He has always been Divine, but He was not human until His incarnation.

C. Christ is His official title--the Messiah. At His anointing with the Holy Spirit (Lk. 3:21-22). Although as Son of David He was born to Messianic rights (Mt. 1:1; Lk. 2:11).

Actually and technically there is one name, Jesus, combined with two titles, Lord and Christ. So He is Lord Jesus, the Christ (Messiah).
